Mississippi is a buzz as filming for the movie "The Help" is underway. The film, based on the bestselling Kathryn Stockett book, is being shot in a number of MS locations. This week they're shooting in Jackson. From a Wapt.com story:
"The film, which is expected to be released in 2011, stars Emma Stone and Bryce Dallas Howard and is directed by Tate Taylor.
Filmmakers sent the Fondren area back in time Wednesday, with classic cars and actors dressed in period clothing, to film scenes at Brent's Drugs on Duling Avenue.
Some members of the production team grew up and Jackson and said they worked to shoot it in their hometown.
"We knew if we could convince them to bring the production here that we would make a fabulous film, and it's just been great," said Brunson Green, a member of the production team."
Our friends at EatJxn shared these photos.
We'd love to hear and see more. If you've been part of filming of "The Help" (we know they are using lots of extras from the area) or taken photos of the transformed streets in Jackson or other Southern locations, please share them with us!
