Deep Fried Friday: Pimiento Cheese Sandwich

Fried Pimiento CheeseIf you think nothing can top a pimiento cheese sandwich, think again! Watch as I give this Southern staple a deep-fried makeover.

Deep Fried Pimiento Cheese Sandwich
Yield: Makes 10-12 servings


  • 16 slices sandwich bread
  • Creamy Pimiento Cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups crushed spicy cheese crackers
  • Vegetable oil
  • Hot sauce


1. Spread Creamy Pimiento Cheese on half of bread slices (about 1/3 cup on each); top with remaining bread slices. Trim crusts from sandwiches and cut into quarters.

2. Whisk milk and egg together in a 9-inch pie dish. Dip sandwich quarters into milk and egg mixture and dredge in crushed spicy cheese crackers.

3. Pour oil to depth of 2 inches into a Dutch oven; heat to 350°. Fry sandwiches, in batches, 1 to 2 minutes on each side or until a light “rust” color. Drain on a wire rack over paper towels. Serve with hot sauce.
