Ashley Leckey Schoenith is carrying on her late grandmother’s legacy with her own line of heirloom aprons.

When Ashley remembers her grandmother Cele, she can still taste the ice milk (similar to frozen yogurt) she often enjoyed while visiting Cele’s home as a child. In late 2006, garnering inspiration from those memories, Ashley partnered with Cele to create IceMilk Aprons—a line of classic linen aprons. They had just sent samples off to be produced when Cele passed away. “It’s fun for me to carry on what we started together,” Ashley says. $35-$120; icemilkaprons.com

The Packaging: “It’s inspired by my grandmother’s pantry. She never kept things in their original package. She put things in canisters and jars and hand-labeled them.”

The Names: Ashley’s aprons are named for family recipes, such as “Pecan Orchard Pleasantries” or “Rollings of Cinnamon,” in honor of her mom’s famous cinnamon rolls.

The Recipes: “Each kit comes with three blank recipe cards to start your collection of heirloom recipes. I thought it’d be nice to have some memories to pass on.”

The Heirloom: “The aprons come with a ‘heritage tag’ on the inside that owners can stitch their initials onto. That way, their grandchildren will know who passed it down to them.”
