Holiday Cranberry Bar

Not a fan of anything gelatinous? We won’t revoke your Southern card. Just get (cranberry) sauced with a cocktail.

Canned jellied cranberry sauce gets an upgrade with our very own Cranberry Reduction (click here for the recipe), which can be used in the three cocktails above. Each recipe makes one serving and takes less than five minutes to make.

Holiday Cosmopolitan Stir together 3 Tbsp. vodka, 1 Tbsp. orange liqueur (such as Triple Sec), 1 Tbsp. Cranberry Reduction, and 1½ tsp. fresh lemon juice in a cocktail shaker filled with ice cubes. Cover with lid, and shake vigorously until thoroughly chilled (about 30 seconds). Strain mixture into a chilled coupe or martini glass. Garnish with a lemon rind twist.

Cran-Bourbon-and-Orange Stir together 3 Tbsp. bourbon, 1 Tbsp. Cranberry Reduction, and 1 Tbsp. fresh orange juice in a 10-oz. glass filled with ice cubes. Top with club soda. Garnish with fresh rosemary.

Cranberry Mojito Muddle 3 mint leaves, 1 Tbsp. Cranberry Reduction, and 1½ tsp. fresh lime juice against sides of a cocktail shaker; add ice cubes and 3 Tbsp. rum. Cover with lid, and shake vigorously until thoroughly chilled (about 30 seconds). Strain into a 10-oz. glass filled with ice cubes. Top with lemon-lime soft drink. Garnish with a fresh mint sprig and lime slices.

Cranberry Ice Ring

If you’re throwing a holiday cocktail party, you’re going to want punch, and that means a decorative, flavored ice ring.

Make your own by placing 1/4 cup sliced cranberries; 1/2 lemon, sliced; and 10 mint leaves, torn into pieces; into the bottom of any bundt pan mold. Combine 2 8.4-oz. cans sparkling cranberry juice and 1 1/2 cups water, pour it into the mold, and freeze 6 hours or until firm. Then drop it into a punch bowl filled with sparkling apple cider and voila!

Smaller cranberry ice cubes are also eye-catching and work perfectly to enhance non-aloholic beverages.

To make them, fill an ice cube tray with sliced cranberries, fresh mint leaves cut into thin strips, and place a thin lemon rind strip in each compartment.

Then, combine 1 8.4-oz. can of sparkling cranberry juice with 1/2 cup of water and pour into the tray. Freeze for 4 hours or until firm.

You can drop them into glasses of club soda, ginger ale, Sprite, or white cranberry juice.
