It’s not just the fact that Holeman & Finch Public House opened a burger stand at Turner Field this spring that is making us flock to Atlanta. We’re also going for the assortment of homegrown shops that line the Virginia-Highlands neighborhood. Here are a handful of our favorite stops in the area.

Mitzi & Romano
Everything in this cheery women’s boutique will make you want to indulge your inner bohème. With flowing tops and dresses from brands such as Nation and Hobo, cool Henry & Belle jeans, and jewelry from local artists, it’s the perfect mix of funky and refined. 404/875-9600

Urban Cottage
This cozy bungalow is the best place to stop for a chic last-minute gift. Find Juliska candles and bright pillows for the decorating addict and outfits for your baby niece. Looking for furniture? The shop works with carpenters to create custom tables, armoires, and chairs. 404/815-9993

Cacao
The third outpost for Atlanta’s favorite chocolate maker is a sweets enthusiast’s dream. The space is designed like a whimsical French parlor complete with chandeliers and towers of macaroons. Every chocolate truffle, caramel, and decadent piece of bark is made in house using cacao beans the owner, Kristen Hard, finds on her travels around the world. 866/960-9449

310 Rosemont
You’ll go for the trendy assortment of Haute Hippie, Trina Turk, and Milly for the ladies, and Billy Reid and Southern Proper for the guys, but you’ll stay for the free, Atlanta-brewed Sweetwater beer and the fun extras such as a pool table and the shop’s puppy mascot, Chanel. 404/249-5326

Bill Hallman
A curated stock of emerging labels such as J.C. Rags, known for its slim-cut menswear, and sophisticated dresses by Heather and Thatcher has made Bill Hallman a city mainstay for more than 30 years. But the real standout is the shop’s house label of tailored men’s and women’s wear that is as comfortable as it is stylish. 404/876-6055

Judith Bright
The Nashville-based jewelry designer opened up shop here last year. Her collection of semiprecious rings, affordable necklaces, and sparkly earrings are ideal for the casual girl looking to brighten up her look. 404/803-0915

Whew, we bet that really took the wind out of you. Refuel with the fish of the day and choice of two sides such as hush puppies and coleslaw at one of the city’s freshest seafood joints, Goin’ Coastal. Next door, Paolo’s Gelato has authentic Italian gelato in flavors such as stracciatella, rose, and cappuccino to satiate your sweet tooth.
