Welcome to Film Bites, our weekly series of videos by renowned filmmaker Joe York, in partnership with the Southern Foodways Alliance, that dishes out the diverse culture of Southern foods. Come back next Monday for another sliver from our Southern silver screen.
Step inside the Lassis Inn in Little Rock, Arkansas, where the fried fish is hot and the beer is cold. You can eat your fill of catfish, french fries, coleslaw, and a peculiar local delicacy: the fried, meaty ribs of the buffalo fish. But beware: even when the jukebox is jumping, dancing is strictly prohibited. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
