Problem: a kitchen that’s not quite large enough for the almost ubiquitous eat-at island with a bevy of bar stools pulled up. Solution: a metal-and-wood work table that adds extra prep and storage space without clogging up the room’s traffic flow. Choose one with casters like the one above* and you can roll it out as a serving station, too. Antique versions carry a hefty price tag, but you don’t have to pay up to get the look.

    Wow, that really works well in that space. I’m assuming the photo is the French Island? Did it come with that middle shelf? I didn’t see it on the C&B site
