We asked our super-stylish Editor-at-Large, Kimberly Schlegel Whitman, what she was giving for Valentine’s Day this year and she immediately responded! Here’s what she said:

Have you discovered the microchip cookie yet? Well, cancel the trip to the drug store for that classic box of chocolates this year. I want to let you in on the secret to the greatest Valentine sweet around: The Microchip Cookie by JK Gourmet. It is a tiny single chip cookie that you will never forget!

JK Gourmet is the result of a long friendship between founders, Julie and Karleen who wanted to put their treasure trove of family recipes to good use.  The result is their perfectly delicious offering of chocolate sauces and microchips that you can order from their on-line store. I first tried the microchip cookie when a very generous sample package was dropped off at my door after my baby girl was born.  I was trying to avoid sweets but I couldn’t resist a little taste. One little taste led to another and another and, before we knew it, my husband, son and I had polished off the entire gift basket!  With Valentine’s Day around the corner, I decided it was time for me to share our favorite sweet secret. I’ve asked around to see how some of my friends would present these cookies.

Dallas and Houston based event planner, Todd Fiscus suggested splitting up a large tin of microchip cookies into small heart shaped containers and leaving them around with a note for your Valentine to find them all day long. For example, one in the seat of the car with a note about having a sweet drive. Another in a purse or briefcase, another at the dinner table, and so on.

Dr. Sue Hubbard, aka The Kid’s Doctor, suggested the Daily Dose, a sampling of the flavors divided up into a perfect portion for every day of the week, as theperfect Valentine teacher gift.

Personally, I’m ordering some for my husband so that I can enjoy a few myself.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
