I just spent two weeks on vacation paying little attention to my hair or makeup, and I’ve never felt better. To me, that’s what summer is all about: a carefree beauty routine that gets you out the door quickly to soak in the long, sunny days. Still, a girl’s gotta look put together. That’s why we’ve compiled these tried-and-true beauty basics that will not take up too much time or energy but still ensure you look pretty and chic.
1. Rollers. Not long ago, stick-straight hair was the flavor of the month, but now glossy, bouncy waves are back.
Time spent: 15 minutes (2 minutes hands-on)
The shortcut: Wrap sections of your hair in velcro rollers, and let sit while you go about your morning routine. This will give you some lift and smooth flyaways.
2. Lipliner. If you want your color to last longer, having a solid foundation is key. It’ll save you the trouble of having to reapply later.
Time spent: 20 seconds
The shortcut: Use a goes-on-clear liner like Maybelline’s Colorsensational Lip Liner in Clear that is mistake-proof. Apply it as easily (and quickly) as you do balm.
3. Eyelash curler. Not even the most high-tech mascara will give you the added definition of using a lash curler. Invest in a good tool like Tarte’s Picture Perfect Eyelash Curler, which is sold as a set with the Deluxe Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara.
Time spent: 30 seconds (15 seconds per eye)
Shortcut: None needed; this short step gives you volume without the trouble of applying fake lashes.
