On Friday, August 16, every country-and-beach-lover’s dream comes true. Kenny Chesney, whose new single “American Kids” is climbing the charts faster than Garth Brooks became Chris Gaines, will play a free show called the Flora-Bama-Jama.
The show is (obviously) at the Flora-Bama, an establishment known to many Southerners, as the quintessential Southern beach bar, and home of the Mullet Toss, which celebrated its 30th anniversary this year. It also has an annual singer-songwriter festival and a history of hosting emerging and known musicians such as Jimmy Buffet, Mickey Newbury, and Pete Fountain.
Sounds like one of Kenny’s favorite hangouts too. He said in a statement, “To me, a place like the Flora-Bama is all about kicking back, being with your friends and not worrying about a thing … Just hang out and be easy. I love that it’s on a border, that it’s on a beach, that it’s like the best bar anywhere people get together and just be! It’s everything the notion of The Big Revival is built on: taking that time to regroup, replenish then re-engage with the passion of being truly, absolutely alive.” [sic]
Tomorrow, details on acquiring wristbands to the show will drop here, along with a new clip from Kenny.
Until then, sate your country cravings with the below video of his new single.
