In case you needed another reason to treat your sweet tooth this week, June 16 is National Fudge Day!

This heavenly confection – made from the goodness of sugar, butter, milk and any flavor you can imagine – can be traced back to the late 19th century. Although the facts are a little sticky, the general consensus is that a batch of caramels was accidentally “fudged” and sold in Baltimore, Maryland for 40 cents a pound. Today, you can find flavors of all kinds: peanut butter, maple, pistachio, coconut, strawberry, honeycomb, candy cane – the list goes on. In honor of America’s mistake-turned-sensation, please enjoy some fudge on our behalf. Fudge-themed parties are encouraged.

If you’ve got a hankering for a twist on chocolate, whip up a batch of our Red Velvet Fudge. For a delicious grown-up treat, invite some friends over for rum-spiked Boozy Caramel Fudge. Or, if classic fudge isn’t your style, share the love with a homemade Fudge Pie.

However you celebrate it, we sure hope your day is sweet!
