Few songs invoke the same gut wrentching heartbreak and total loneliness that Hank Williams’ “Your Cheatin’ Heart” does, and Michaela Anne clearly knows this. The Nashville-via-Brooklyn chanteuse injects the song with enough soul to keep your eyes wet and your feet movin’.
“In my live show, I almost always cover some old country classics,” Anne says. “Hank Williams is one of my all-time favorites because he’s one of the best for lonesome sorrowful melodies and lyrics. It’s always fun to put a little twist on the traditional arrangement which is why we play ‘Your Cheatin’ Heart’ with a slight old school soul vibe. Plus it feels so good to sing it!”
