Danielle Metcalf and Austen Silkman first met one another at his nephew’s birthday party, but as fate would have it, the two didn’t reconnect until a year later while dining at the same restaurant. In 2013, Austen decided to propose to Danielle during a family trip to Aspen, Colorado, but his plan of action went through a few changes due to some tricky mountain weather.
“I made the executive decision then, that even after months of prior planning and best-laid plans, I couldn’t wait another second, especially for the weather,” the groom says. “I asked her then, in the quiet grayish-blue light of the early morning, to marry me. To my relief, she said yes two or three dozen times.”
The couple married on the quaint grounds of the Oak Crest Mansion Inn in Pass Christian Mississippi. An intimate ceremony was held in the backyard chapel, with a reception following in the Grande Ballroom. Local photography group Starling and Sage spent the day capturing the couple’s special day.
