Combined with other food items or standing alone, coconut oil can be used as a viable substitute for lots of beauty products. We found some recipes that may make you want to shop at home for your next face scrub or hair conditioner.

Lemon Coconut Face Mask: 1 tbsp. Coconut Oil + ½ tsp. Lemon Juice + 2 tsp. honey. Mix together, smooth onto clean skin, leave for 10 minutes, rinse with warm water and finish with a splash of cool water. Softens and hydrates the skin.

Conditioner for oily hair: 1 C. water + 1 egg yolk + 1 tsp. coconut oil. Whisk egg yolk until frothy, add coconut oil and whisk a little more. Add water and stir until smooth. Massage into hair and scalp. Leave on for 2-5 minutes. Rinse with cool water. Leaves hair feeling soft and shiny.

Toothpaste: Coconut oil + baking soda. Mix equal parts into a paste. Brush as usual and rinse but don’t forget to floss. Coconut oil, alone, works just as well and isn’t abrasive.
