How would I rock the Henderson Shirt Dress? The short answer to this question is: six ways to Sunday. The longer answer?: this dress is a perfect wardrobe staple for the modern Southern woman, and like a modern Southern woman, I’ll bet there’s no task it can’t tackle with aplomb. I’d rock this dress by putting it to the test on a busy day in The Empire City of the South.
I’d begin the Henderson Shirt Dress Test Day with my decade-old whiskey-oak cowboy boots, a vintage turquoise ring, and a Buffalo Nickel statement necklace by Atlanta designer Mark Edge. After a morning coffee and a little gallery hopping with my girlfriends, I’d pull on some black leggings, hop on my vintage Harley – yes, still in The Dress! – and motor across town to Chrome Yellow for a meeting with a logo design client.
After lunch, I’d roll up my sleeves and get to work at my printmaking studio, barefoot and sporting an olive Iron & Resin waxed canvas shop apron to protect the quality fabric of The Dress.
After work, I’d spice up my ensemble with black patent leather heels and covetable pearl jewelry: a statement necklace and matching earrings from Atlanta designer Mickey Lynn (who is truly crafting the future of quintessentially Southern pearl jewelry, even if she doesn’t know it yet!). The classic feminine cut of Dress would turn heads as my beau and I appreciated some suds at Orpheus Brewing. Later, people would wonder at my audacity when I wore plaid to The Atlanta Opera – but underneath their muttering, they’d be secretly wondering, “Where did she get that amazing dress?” And just maybe the luxurious-yet-unpretentious personality of The Dress would inspire *them* to stand out from the herd a bit, too.
Finally, The Dress and I would end the night by kicking off those high heels and pulling those buttery cowboy boots back on. The Henderson Shirt Dress Test Day would end with a much-deserved pour of rye whiskey enjoyed by a backyard campfire under the cedar trees, where The Dress and my old Mexican saddle blanket kept me warm under the stars.

Hey yall! I am SO in love with this dress! I would wear the navy/green dress with tan/honey leather riding boots; a caramel colored quilted vest to add some warmth, a monogram necklace, some emerald colored matching statement earrings, and big blonde curls. And of course, with my Southern gent by my side, all decked out in his Southern Proper game day attire to coordinate with me!!! I of course wouldn’t forget my cold glass of sweet tea (it’s still warm down here in the Southernmost parts of the South!) and tortoise shell shades to finish off the ensemble🙂
