I will split the day between two families! One where it’s still all about the kids (the youngest turned 6 today) and one that’s more geared toward grown-ups! Two big meals and two happy families.

Every night in December, my husband, son and I sit down together and take turns reading from Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol. We have the whole book read before Christmas day! On Christmas Day we watch the modern rendition of the book via the movie, Scrooged. Our son is 16 this year and still enjoys this tradition with us.

I am German and I hide a pickle ornament in the tree every year. In German families, the one child who finds the pickle ornament receives an extra gift and is thought to have a year of good luck.

I will be making some delicious recipes out of Southern Living. I already made a door decoration featured in a past issue of the magazine. I will enjoy being with family and friends during this festive season. A glorious time to give thanks for all our blessings.

We are very traditional and will do what we pretty much always do. An open house two weeks before Christmas. After Thanksgiving and all the decorating…cleaning too.
The annual Toys for Tots either on motorcycles or boats.
The annual lighted night boat parade on the intercostal. With a picnic basket and drinks.
Driving around looking at the neighborhood Christmas lights and decorations
    Going downtown for Santas arrival.
Follow up with Angel tree network.
Christmas Eve is church then home with immediate family. Having a light dinner or takeout.
Watching vintage Christmas movies..popcorn and we each open two gifts each that are all pretty much the same. Our tradition of new PJS and our dated Christmas ornament.
Christmas Day our family dinner. Gift dispersed my Santa
After dinner a walk in the woods.
A couple days later our weekly trip to the cabin in the mountains of NC..sometimes we even go to Ohio.

Lol..and this doesn’t including attending parties, shopping, wrapping and working.

We gather at my mother’s home for a Christmas meal we prepare together. We bring dishes in and enjoy prepping the main dishes and laughing and catching up. After a wonderful meal together, we open gifts among the twenty family members there – that’s four generations of love and fun. It’s memory making!

Christmas is about the ones we love so our celebration includes family and those who are like family. It is really a month of small sweet gatherings at home, at church and in the community. Decorations are always part of the festivities inside and out with parades, tree lightings, tours of neighborhoods and gardens with light displays and nativities, dinners and gift exchange in houses dressed in their holiday best. We will sing Christmas carols, go shopping and take a short vacation to reflect on the reason for the season. It is the most wonderful time of the year!

We are planning to host a couple of parties at our home during the holiday season. However, on Christmas Day we will have family and friends gather for exchanging gifts and a big dinner. It is always more fun when friends join us – especially those who have little or no family to celebrate with.

We’re pulling out the stops and celebrating at home. Decorating has already begun for several events – the garden club luncheon, relatives visiting from New Orleans, an open house dessert party, Christmas dinner, and a New Year’s Eve party. What fun!
