Even though chefs Joyce (on right) and Gigi (left) grew up in Bolivia, they share the same beauty ideals as women in Texas. “Leaving home, even if it’s just to go to the bank, means wearing nice clothes and makeup—and, most importantly, doing your hair,” Joyce says. “If a woman’s hair is set, she instantly looks pulled together.”

Gigi: “If I have to run from the restaurant to an event, I wrap my hair in a tight bun for two hours before I have to leave, and then I shake it out for full waves that look professionally done.”

Joyce: “When there’s no time to go to the salon, I coil my hair into a tight, seashell-like bun and clip it into place. It’s an easy style when you are handling food but want to look good too.”
