What to Keep in Your Travel Makeup Bag

December 10, 2015 | By | Comments (0)

It all started with one lipstick. One lipstick grew to three and the pockets of my purse started to fill with hair ties, perfume, a Tide pen, Advil, mascara, you name it. The bottom of my bag was lined with a layer of “essentials” that I couldn’t let go of. Call it hoarding, but I’m the go-to girl when there is a spill on your shirt or when you need a spritz of perfume before a big event. As a beauty junkie and a believer in expecting the unexpected, here’s everything I keep in my traveling makeup bag.

The ultimate red: The first time I wore Nars Velvet Matte Lipstick in Cruella, I only had to reapply once throughout the day. I always thought wearing red lipstick took a lot of effort, but I was proven wrong with this matte rouge. This red is my instant confidence booster and my quickest way to feel put together. There is no such thing as a bad beauty day when this pretty shade of crimson lipstick is involved.

The scent: I’ve been on the search for a day scent that has just the right amount of spice, fruit, and powder notes. I finally found it in the Armani Sì Rollerball. The pear, amber wood, and freesia smell is never too heavy and stays on my skin all day.

The must have: L’Occitane Delightful Rose Hand Cream is filled with natural ingredients like shea butter and coconut oil to keep hands soft, and the rose scent is just light enough. We do so many things throughout the day with our hands, it’s easy for them to get dried out. Keeping a small hand cream is often times the most overlooked traveling makeup bag essential.

The moisture burst: Blistex Moisture Melt has little moisture beads that create super soft lips. My lips feel healthier and softer with every application.

The frizz fighter: Drybar 100 Proof Treatment Oil is packed with nutrients to keep your hair frizz free and most of all, healthy. I have dry hair, but a few pumps of this and my locks instantly feel more manageable. I keep this handy in my purse for when my fly aways really start to get out of control.

The everyday gloss: I swipe Chanel Lèvres Scintillantes Glossimer in Ocean Shimmer on everyday. This clear gloss has flecks of pink and gold, giving your lips the extra pop they need.

The makeup bag and its contents is a personal thing. Believe me, it doesn’t stop there. I keep other essentials in my purse that deserve an honorable mention.

Other essentials:
Advil
Mini Lint Roller
Hair Ties
Bandaids
Tide Pen
Oil Blotting Sheets
