Peppermint Cocoa Lip Scrub

Here at Southern Living, we love a good DIY. Based in Atlanta, Georgia, the Craft Box Girls – led by craft guru Lynn Lilly – are creating fun, easy-to-make projects to spice up your entertaining, wedding planning, or holiday gifting. Check back every other Thursday for some DIY inspiration.

Cold temperatures can dry out your lips, leaving them feeling chapped and uncomfortable. Instead of constantly reapplying chapstick, try exfoliating your lips once a day with this all-natural Peppermint Cocoa Lip Scrub. Not only will this save you a few bucks – your lips will instantly feel softer.

Ingredients Lip Scrub 3

The Project: Peppermint Cocoa Lip Scrub

Level: Easy

Materials:
3 tablespoon cocoa powder
1 1/2 cups light brown sugar
1/2 tablespoon of pure peppermint extract
1/3 cup grapeseed oil
Glass containers

Directions:

  1. Add light brown sugar and cocoa powder to a bowl and mix thoroughly.
  2. Pour in grapeseed oil and peppermint extract, and combine until your lip scrub forms a grainy paste.
  3. Store in a sealed glass container.
  4. To use, dab a small amount of Peppermint Cocoa Lip Scrub on your lips. Using a clean finger, rub in a circular motion for 15-20 seconds. Use a warm, damp cloth to remove the excess rub.

Your lip scrub will last up to one month. You may need to stir occasionally before use.
