Memphis may be famous for hits from Booker T. and the M.G.s, Al Green, Isaac Hayes, Big Star, and oh yeah, Elvis, but there’s also a new generation of artists coming out of the birthplace of rock ‘n’ roll. Lucero, John Paul Keith, and Goner Records have all contributed towards the new direction of Memphis’ music scene, and so has Star and Micey, equal parts Americana, pop, and garage rock.
Their video for the namesake track off their new album Get ‘Em Next Time (out March 11th) features scenes from Memphis’ landmark Sun Records, where they also recently recorded a session in its legendary studio for an upcoming episode of Sun Studio.
“The Mississippi River has been doing it for years: flooding and receding. It’s the same as the music that surrounds it and the same as our own personal lives. This video is an attempt to capture the up and down of that process. If anything, make you laugh,” says guitarist and vocalist Nick Redmond.
