Become your own sommelier…Sort of. The new Grand Bohemian Hotel in Mountain Brook Alabama offers wine blending classes for the couple who wants a romantic and unique experience. The class is run by sommeliers who assist you in creating your very own blend of wine to take home. The class includes a red wine tasting, choosing which wines to include into your blend, and creating your own wine label for a personal keepsake once it’s empty. Grand Bohemian Hotel, $100 a person.
Mix a romantic scent. With a library of over 100 scents, Candlefish in Charleston is offering an interactive candle making class this Valentine’s Day. Create two candles of your own, drink wine and champagne, and make memories that’ll last a life time with your loved one. Candlefish, $55 a person.
Roses are red, violets are blue. For the holiday of love, stroll through gardens of tropical flowers, roses, and more. Grab your honey and head to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens on February 13 from 7-11 p.m. for live music, cocktails, and appetizers. Each guest receives a rose upon arrival and for those feeling the love, you’ll even have the opportunity to renew your vows. Valentine’s in the Gardens, $35 a person.
Impress them with waffles. If you and your partner are always making breakfast in bed for one another, this is the reservation for you. Waffle House is hosting its ninth annual It’s a Waffle House Love Story. This Valentine’s Day, participating Waffle House locations are taking reservations for a candlelight dinner for two. Dine on hashbrowns, eggs, and hotcakes in style. You can check out the Waffle House website to see if your local Waffle House is participating.
Not into Valentine’s Day? No problem. If you’re not into cupid, hearts, and chocolate, there’s another occasion you can celebrate. At the Crow Collection of Asian Art in Dallas Texas, you can celebrate the Chinese New Year on February 13. The event takes place from 11 a.m.- 7:30 p.m. with events like art demonstrations, dancing, music, and ends with a fireworks display. Dress up like Cupid for charity. Grab Valentine’s Day themed undies for Cupid’s Undie Run. Although there are locations all over the United States, the 1.75 mile run in Washington D.C. is right in front of the U.S. Capitol Building. The Cupid Undie Run is raising money to end neurofibromatosis and raised over 3.5 million last year for the charity. With an open bar before and after the run, you can’t go wrong celebrating Valentine’s Day like this. The run is on February 13, starting at 12 p.m. and lasting through 4 p.m. Cupid’s Undie Run, $55
Stay single in the music city. If you’re single and ready to mingle, head to Acme Feed & Seed for their It’s Complicated: Valentine’s Day Dance Party. Grab a drink, head up to the 3rd floor, and jam out to the music of Exmag and local DJs Rate and Sister Sprouse. This 21+ party begins at 9 p.m. and ends at 2 a.m. Acme Feed & Seed, $10 per person at the door.
