In between the films, exhibitions, and musical performances that pack the days of South by South West, getting a feel for the beautiful city of Austin, Texas should also be on your agenda. We’ve got the insiders’ guide to navigating the city in between the craziness of SXSW. Austin Boutique owners Rebecca Yanoff of COVE and Jessica Conaway of DYLAN WYLDE give us their recommendations for their favorite places to eat, grab a drink, and the SXSW event they’re most excited about.

Rebecca Yanoff, COVE:

Grabbing something to eat: “For an energizing lunch, my go to is Blue Dahlia Bistro for the Garbanzo Bean Salad with Chicken Salad. The location is close to downtown but the outdoor space creates a relaxing atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re miles away.”

For a drink: “You can’t visit Austin without trying out a margarita or two! My favorite is the Vivo Rita from Vivo. It’s a mixture of sangria & tequila!”

SXSW event to catch: “This SXSW I’m most looking forward to the free shows at South x San Jose. The stage is a short walk from COVE which means I can catch a few tunes on my break or after the store closes.”

Jessica Conaway, DYLAN WYLDE:

Grabbing something to eat: “East Side Kings serves Asian-fusion bites that are to die for! They make it easy to order as much or as little food as you’re in the mood for, and their sides are perfect for sharing with friends.  You have to try the beet fries.”

For a drink: “I love Hotel Vegas! They have an awesome scene and it’s right in the middle of all the SXSW action!”

SXSW event to catch: “This year I’m looking forward to The Big One, a free concert series organized by Austin’s Do512. There are 10 incredible bands playing throughout the day. I’m stoked.”

You can get your tickets to South by South West here. SXSW will be happening March 11-20.
