These Products Will Make Your Hands Look Younger

A couple of weeks ago, we as a team all looked down at our hands and gasped. Did our hands look old? Why don’t they look as smooth and soft as they used to? Well, the fact of the matter is, our hands take a beating. They’re literally exposed to the elements — i.e. when was the last time you put sunscreen on your hands before you left for work for the day? Do you regularly swipe your glycolic treatment over your hands? Neither do we. And that, my friends, is what stands in the way of all of us having skin so pretty we could be hand models. So aside from swiping our Glow Tonic over the backs of our hands and putting on sunscreen, I dug into testing products that make an immediate impact in the appearance of your most used appendages, and below are the all-stars. The best part about all of them? You can do them at the office, while you’re napping, or cleaning the house. Now that’s what I call multi-tasking.

Karuna Age Defying + Hand Mask:
So, I’m guilty of using these while I’m at work. Karuna has made it so there is literally no bad time for a mask. You pop these on, and secure them around your wrist (they are gloves) and you go about your business. I’ve written emails, answered texts (albeit a little slower that usual), but the point is, I could carry on my merry way while still treating myself. SCORE. The thing I loved about this mask is that not only does it have nourishing and moisturizing ingredients like jojoba oil, hyaluronic acid, and shea butter, which help maintain a youthful look to your hands, it also has amazing anti-aging ingredients like lactic acid and glycolic acid. These ingredients paired with arbutin, which is a unique ingredient that works to lighten existing age spots, means that after 30 minutes you remove your hands, and some of the damage or aging that has already occurred is reversed. You pop your hands out of these and you literally look like your hands could swipe some plastic magic in an Amex commercial. ($9; sephora.com)

Hand MD Anti-Aging Hand Treatment Serum Duo:
Now this is a two pronged treatment. You get a serum and a hand cream with an SPF 30, and the two products work together to improve the appearance of your hands. First, you use the daily serum on the backs of your hands, not your palms because that’s not the area that needs the help. The serum has retinol, vitamin c, antioxidants, and shea butter that all work together to exfoliate, brighten, and reveal a new layer of skin, which you keep looking plump, smooth, and young with the hydrating factor. Then, you follow up with the hand cream, which seals in moisture and protects your hand from environmental aging. Our senior editor Lindsay Dreyer used these for less than a week and noticed a drastic difference in the appearance of her hands. It works fast, and continues to work, just like you do. Bioxidea Miracle 24 Hand Cream:
If my hands look like they’ve done hard time, in I don’t know, a quarry mining rocks in Siberia during the winter (I know, I have a phenomenal sense of drama and also very dry skin), I reach for these. They are heavenly. Like the Karuna, these are gloves (they come in a box of 3 sets) but they have a different set of equally lovely ingredients. Arnica, aloe vera, rosemary, and lavender all work together to heal irritation, hydrate, and soothe. Honestly, you take your hands out of these babies and they look like you have a new set. Seriously, any redness is gone, and they are incredibly smooth. It’s like sorcery in a sheet mask. ($56; bioxideausa.com)
