2467301_Porch.bal2087.JPGIn Charleston, the locals will be the first to tell you – we live on our porches. They are the home of our happiest and most festive summer memories. We enjoy the breezes rolling off the harbor, fresh seafood from the docks, and are always quick to offer our guests a cold cocktail.

For our June issue (on newsstands May 20th) Charleston-based event planner Tara Guerard shares her tips for planning an effortless porch party.

Here are a few behind the scene snippets from our photo shoot with Tara this past winter. That’s right…winter. It’s amazing what a few good sports and beautiful styling can do!

Feeling inspired? Tara and I will be bringing this porch party (insider tips and all) to life for a handful of Southern Living readers this June at Southern Living Live: Charleston–a 50th Anniversary celebration in one of our favorite cities.
