With only a few short months until the grand opening of the 2016 Idea House, we will be updating you weekly with behind-the-scenes sneak peeks and Q&As with the team.
This week we chatted with this year’s builder – Bryan Phillips of Ebsco Development Company, Inc. and Town Builders, Inc.
SL: What is your favorite part of this year’s Idea House?
BP: There are several details that I absolutely love about this year’s Idea House. The one that stands out the most is the huge wraparound front porch with soaring 9′ doors and windows, wrapping the front faces of the home.
SL: Has building this house been different than others you have built in the past?
BP: The main difference between this home and others we build would be the involvement of so many designers working on one single project. Each area of this house was thought out carefully and designed to the fullest. There is nothing ordinary in any room or space in the home. Everywhere you go there is detail and more detail.
SL: What products did you use in the house that you are most excited about?
BP: The products I’m most excited about using on this home would be the Marvin 9′ doors and windows, Velux solar powered skylight, extensive use of wood shiplap for wall veneer and color plus Hardie siding.
SL: What should readers and visitors expect when they see the finished house?
BP: Those visiting and/or viewing the magazine should expect to be blown away with details by all of the designers and architect. Bill Ingram really drew a special home that is traditional but elegant. They (designers and architect) all came together and exceeded our expectations designing a spectacular home for our team to build exemplifying “Southern Living” style.
