“As mocktails gain popularity on menus at restaurants, I knew it was a topic I wanted to address. After the joys of finding out you’re pregnant subside, you slowly realize the hard truth: it’s going to be a very, very long time until your next alcoholic drink. I was okay with it – in fact, I loved not being hungover. But, every time I was offered a sparkling soda at a party with my friends drinking cocktails in pretty glasses, I’d wonder: Can’t I have the same thing without the alcohol? Yes! Yes, you can! My husband, Michael Bocanegra, a bartender at Bar 96 in Austin, created the Peachy Keen & Tonic, in both a mocktail version and a cocktail version. It’s perfect for baby showers, weddings, or an alfresco dinner; no one is left out.”

Vodka, if making cocktail version
Directions for Mocktail
Muddle half of one peach, a squeeze of lime, and a dash of simple syrup in a shaker. Add 5 oz. tonic water to shaker. Shake all ingredients and strain into your glass of choice.
Directions for Cocktail
Muddle half of one peach, a squeeze of lime, and a dash of simple syrup in a shaker. Add 5 oz. tonic water to shaker. Add 1.25 ounces of your favorite vodka into shaker with other ingredients. Shake all ingredients and strain into your glass of choice.
