As you may have heard, we’re headed to Nashville over Labor Day weekend in celebration of our 50th Anniversary!

We editors are piling into a few cars and hitting I-65 straight for Nashville. We’ve spent the past year planning this weekend and I can guarantee you we’re pulling out all of the stops. Alongside our friends at Visit Music City, we’ve curated a weekend that you won’t forget.

Here are a few of my favorite events that you don’t want to miss:

Dinner at Cheekwood: We’ll start the evening with a cocktail reception overlooking the beautifully manicured grounds and then move on to a sit-down dinner with a menu curated by Chef Matt Bolus of Nashville’s 404 Kitchen and SL Test Kitchen Director, Robby Melvin. We’ll end the evening on the dance floor with Jason Eskridge & Band. (note: be prepared to kick of your shoes).

Hot Chicken & Craft Beer Tasting: We couldn’t possibly plan a celebration weekend in Nashville without acknowledging the national phenomenon that was born in Music City. We’ve paired Nashville’s best hot chicken restaurants with our favorite local breweries for a one-of-a-kind tasting event. Our editor, Sid, will host a short panel with Andre Jeffries (Prince’s Hot Chicken) and Christian Spears (Tennessee Brew Works) on Nashville’s hot chicken and the emerging brewery scene.

Dinner at Martin’s BBQ: Its no secret that we love Pat Martin and his mouth-watering BBQ. In fact, you haven’t lived until you’ve tasted his Redneck Taco: an open-faced sandwich, piled high with hickory-smoked pork, slaw, and Piedmont-style tomato sauce atop a plate-size hoecake. You can taste it, along with a plethora of other fixin’s at his brand new restaurant on Saturday night. If that doesn’t convince you to buy a ticket, Kix Brooks will be on hand with his new cookbook, “Cookin’ It with Kix: The Art of Celebrating and Fun of Outdoor Cooking.” Its guaranteed to be a boot-scootin’ good time. (Sorry, I couldn’t resist).

Lastly, who doesn’t love a good brunch? We’ve planned two awesome brunch events on both Sunday and Monday. Join us for a Chef & Editor Drop-In Brunch at Pinewood Social on Sunday from 10am-2pm AND a Monday Blues Breakfast at Acme Feed & Seed on Monday from 10am-12pm. What better way to leave the Music City than with a belly full of food?

Alright…go on now…grab your tickets before they sell out!
