MARCHING BANDS! All the way. In fact, I find it hard to understand what the football team is doing on our playing field! Last season, our BNL Marching Stars made it to Semi-State for the first time in the school’s history – 45 years! Oh, we have a decent football team too.

I’m not excited about the game, it’s the bands that get me going. Football season means band practice, perfecting half time shows and cool evenings with family and friends. It is so much more than the game being played.

Football is huge at this house. I have 2 teenagers that play highschool football and who also love pro football. So, get togethers, lots of food, and fun are always big this time of year!

What I’m most excited about this football season is seeing my grandson play his first home high school football game as a senior this coming Friday night! He’s the starting quarterback and has been playing football for 12 years plus and I’ve hardly missed a game! I love the marching shows under the Friday night lights, the fellowship with all our many family and friends who have been watching these kids play football over the years and of course all the concession stand goodies! I can’t think of a better way to spend a Friday evening in the Fall than spending it sitting in the stands cheering on some outstanding athletes while breathing in the fresh nighttime air and the wonderful aromas from down at the concession stands…HaHa We’ve got some of the best smoked sausage and burgers sold in Texas at our high school concessions!
The Thursday night before every home game a different parent of one of the players has the entire team over for a dinner get together. I’m lucky enough to be apart of it because my daughter lets me make and bring over a big pot of chicken/sausage and shrimp gumbo! The kids are so kind and seem to appreciate it very much! I look forward every year to her week to host the team and it’s always fun to see the kids eat together and enjoy a few outdoor games in her backyard!
This football season will be very different than the past years because I lost my husband 6 months ago and he looked so forward to football season also because he was a high school football coach for 30 years and loved every minute of it!! Our family has always enjoyed all sports and this year Paw Paw will have the best seat in the house to watch them all! 🙂

I always love that it gives us a good reason to hang around with our friends, make some delicious food and watch football!! It’s always a good time regardless if we actually go to the game or we are watching it at home.

I’m excited sensing the energy other folks have for football. It’s a religious fervor to hear about the teams, traditions, food and fun of the games. Football is as much a part of fall as the turning leaves and cooler weather. I love to see the concentration invested in following the games and feeling part of the teams. I enjoy watching my fiancee watch the games and be so absorbed in the plays, players, stats and scores. For me, it’s about the social aspect of football. Who’s at the games? What are the vibes from the crowds? How does the air feel? Is it that crispness of the fall that is so welcome? It’s all about perspective and I like to be the observer of the fans………more than anything else.
