What was the inspiration in the Gone With The Wind film for Ashley’s home, Twelve Oaks, is now a recently renovated antebellum mansion for guests to experience. This Southern Living Hotel Collection bed and breakfast combines both modern conveniences and its antebellum roots in a seamless fashion.

Located just thirty minutes outside of Atlanta, the mansion consists of eight guest suites with private luxury bathrooms. Each morning starts with a locally sourced Southern breakfast and evenings top off with a Sippin’ and Nibblin’ Hour at 5 o’clock in the parlor. During the day, guests can explore the house and grounds, visit the charming downtown Covington district, or set out on a local historic homes tour.

For Gone With The Wind fans, the below newspaper clipping shows how Margaret Mitchell herself noted that she liked the Covington, Georgia property for Ashely Wilke’s home, “Twelve Oaks.” So, it’s no surprise that the bed and breakfast attracts national attention as a beautiful example of Southern antebellum architecture. Whether you want to take a tour, stay a night in the mansion, or host an event, choose The Twelve Oaks as your destination.
