This country cutie may be young, but his soulful voice lacks no depth. Best known for hits like “Little Bit Of You” and “Take It On Back,” this Orange Grove, Texas singer just released an incredible new single, “Room To Breathe.” We talked to Chase Bryant on the CMA Awards’ Red Carpet to find out what he loves about the South, his new music, and being a part of Olympian Aly Raisman’s playlist.

You’re a Texas boy! What do you miss most about Texas?
CB: My family, mostly. My mom and dad are moving up to Nashville, but my brother’s down there and I have a lot of family down there. I don’t get to spend a lot of time at home anymore, just because I’m on the road so much. I live in Nashville now, and I’ve been here for six years. I’ve been out of the house since I was sixteen and I was in L.A. for a few years. So, anytime that I get to see my family is so fun.

What does it mean to you to be a Southerner?
CB: Proud. You have to be proud of where you’re from. It’s your roots, and it’s what you’ve grown from. It’s really what’s holding you to the ground and keeping you level-headed. Texas created the roots that I’m bound by.

Your new single “Room To Breathe” is out – does that mean that there’s a new album coming out as well?
CB: Yeah! This is the first single off of the new record that’s come out. I wrote this song about twenty weeks ago with a guy named Derek George and Ashley Gorley, who are the ones I wrote “Little Bit Of You” with two or three years back. You know, I’ve only written two songs with them to date, and one of them was the top two or the top three hit–so hopefully this one just keeps going. We’ve got a good track record with it so far.

When’s the album coming out?
CB: I’m not sure yet – it’ll be the new year. I just heard the other day that we’re going in to cut the last round, so we’re about five percent from being done. I recorded it, co-produced, played all the guitars, all that fun stuff. Or, at least 90% of it.

Your song was recently put on Olympian Aly Raisman’s ‘Pump Up’ List – how does that feel?
CB: We’re actually hanging out and sitting together at the CMA Awards. It was awesome. We talked on the phone a couple times. It’s an honor, you know, to have that done. I know that she is a fan of ours, and we’re definitely a fan of her and her team.
