The summer months certainly don’t hold a monopoly on weekend festivals and events. In the Myrtle Beach area, our calendar heats up right along with the temperatures, beginning in mid March and continuing through the fall. Here are just five recommendations for upcoming spring festivals or events, held in different communities around the Myrtle Beach area.

 Food Truck Festival

Food Truck Festival (Downtown Myrtle Beach, April 1)

A first for the Myrtle Beach area, this free event will showcase the many food trucks now roaming our 60 miles of coastline, along with live entertainment, beer gardens, a cornhole tournament, a kids’ zone, and various local vendors.

CAN

CAN Film Festival (Surfside Beach, April 7 & 8)

In honor of Autism Awareness Month – and hosted in the first autism-friendly city in the country, Surfside Beach – the Champion Autism Network (CAN) Film Festival is designed to educate and bring awareness to the issue of autism, how it impacts the family, and the potential lifelong challenges it can present. The festival will screen films either created by or about people with autism.

Rivertown

Rivertown Music & Craft Beer Festival (Historic Conway, May 6)

The historic streets of downtown Conway will fill with local vendors, live music and a classic car show, along with great food and a craft beer tasting zone. This event – now in its 31st year – is just the beginning of Conway’s bustling spring and summer events, which include farmers markets, Independence Day celebrations and more.

Mayfest

MayFest on Main (North Myrtle Beach, May 13)

Local musical acts, arts and crafts, food vendors, a community stage and a children’s area make the annual MayFest on Main a favorite among North Myrtle Beach locals and visitors alike. Always held the Saturday prior to Mother’s Day, MayFest is the perfect pre-summer street party. Bring a chair, browse local shops, and take in the world-famous beach as you enjoy a day of family fun.

Blue Crab Festival (Little River, May 20 & 21)

This annual event draws a big crowd to the sleepy fishing village of Little River, which is tucked just below the North Carolina border. While the local blue crab is certainly the main event, prepared in a slew of styles for your culinary enjoyment, this festival is also chock-full of fair rides, entertainment, carnival-like games and more, ensuring fun for the whole family.
