The halls of Southern Living are all a flutter over the fantastic, oh-so-Southern moniker Reese Witherspoon has bestowed on her newborn son: Tennessee. That’s right, Tennessee James Toth (his father is Hollywood producer and Reese’s husband James Toth) arrived earlier this afternoon and will bear the name of his mother’s home state.
He or she might be among us. Filmmakers from around the South gather this weekend in our hometown for the 14th Annual Sidewalk Film Festival—a Birmingham-based celebration of international film. In historic theatres and more intimate venues across the downtown area, this year’s festival showcases nearly 200 short films, documentaries, and narrative features.
Though he’s been gone for 35 years this week, Elvis is still the King. (Seriously, stop by the office of a certain Southern Living editor and you’re likely to get a treatise on the long-lasting impact of Elvis Aaron Presley. And maybe a peanut butter and banana sandwich.)
