Southern Living‘s Taste of Charleston is happening this weekend and folks have traveled from all over to attend. Last night, we witnessed the Iron Chef competition in the Culinary Institute of Charleston’s kitchen, and our own Rebecca Lang was a judge!Graze chef Michael Karkut and Lana’s John Ondo won the match-up, using secret ingredients bronze muscadines and green peanuts. The two were in a head-to-head competition with Poogan’s Porch Daniel Doyle and Eric Huff of Burwell’s Stonefire Grill.
Taste of Charleston will continue throughout the weekend with many more fun events surrounding the South Carolina food scene. Sweet and Southern on Shem Creek will take place tonight, featuring a performance by singer/songwriter Rob Crosby, and the big event is Sunday at Boone Hall Plantation, where restaurants from around the area will be serving up food samples as far as the eye can see.
