Pantone has gone green—emerald to be specific.

The global authority on all things color singled out this shade as its Color of the Year for 2013. Known for its association with natural beauty and growth as well as its perception of sophistication and luxury, this season expect to find emerald influences on the runway, red carpet, and in homes everywhere.

Personally, I am thrilled with this choice because not only is emerald my birthstone, but the color also compliments my Irish/freckled complexion. But really, everyone should be excited because this lush color is now going to be easier to find and incorporate into your wardrobe and home decor as the perfect pop of color.

Here are some of our favorite emerald items—all Southern made, of course.
