This morning on The Today Show Southern Living Test Kitchen Professional Norman King R.D., went head-to-head with the Cooking Channel’s Kelsey Nixon. The challenge: create a meal to feed a family of four for under $12. Hosts declared Norman the winner, praising his tasty budget-friendly dish.

Click here for the video and recipe to Norman’s Crispy Chicken Thighs with Collards and New South Dumplings. It’s a new take on chicken and dumplings, featuring Southern super food collard greens. At only $10.30, it is affordable — and easy (made in just two pans).

Congratulations Norman! We shall now refer to you as Southern Living’s King of Chicken. Winner winner, chicken dinner!
