My vintage hand-me-down family cookbooks from family with handwritten recipes of our favorites is my kitchen decorating essential. While they look chic and Southern displayed on the counter, they are used often and always appreciated later with big smiles and full bellies.
My number one kitchen decorating essential is my family! I love an open welcoming kitchen that my family can sit and talk with me while I cook, so having it welcoming and warm is essential for any kitchen!
My cast iron “Hey Y’all” sign of course!
My metal COFFEE sign by the kitchen table.
The coffee is always on around here.
I have a large square wooden cutting board with wooden feet that I use almost everyday. It also serves as a large hot plate for rectangular dishes like lasagna. It was one of the most useful wedding presents I received and I think of the gal who sent it to me every time I use it.
Mine is my cookbook collection. I love to display them proudly.
Open shelving…to display colorful bowls, plates, glassware, etc. I love when the shelves are painted a bright color
My kitchen is decorated in a wine motif and lots of natural light.
Family pictures! Our fridge is covered with them. Always nice to see a smiling nephew’s face when working away in the kitchen
My 7 qt. KitchenAid mixer in candy apple red. It adds a needed splash of color, and is big enough to handle anything I can throw at it!
However cliche it may sound, the best decor in my kitchen is always my friends and family. I love cooking and entertaining, and my kitchen really turns into my favorite place in the world when a few friends are gathered with a glass of wine, and we all share a homecooked dinner together!
My favorite kitchen decorating essential is color. I love it. Nothing says “welcome” like pops of color. My grandmother had a totally beige house except her kitchen, and I once asked her why. She told me it was because that was her favorite room because a lot of cooking, entertaining, long talks, and chats take place in there and you should always make everyone feel welcome. Nothing feels more welcoming than color.
Red and yellow are my essential decorating colors in the kitchen! No matter what I’m doing in the kitchen (cooking, cleaning, visiting) yellow on the walls gives me the feeling of warmth and well being. Touches of red give the feeling of vibrancy. Since so much of my time is spent in the kitchen yellow walls with red accents, such as my antique flour sifter with a red handle hanging on the wall, makes the kitchen a cheery place to be.
If I could afford it, I would love an AGA dual fuel range and oven. My decorating style is quality and statement appliances and furniture. I’m not into themes, but I try to stay within the color range of my granite and my Brazilian red wood floor.
My number one kitchen decor would be that sink, for now little open shelf with miniture cups and plates I have been given or bought at flee markets. Some are old some I don’t know just pretty.
My number one kitchen decoration essential hands down is a beautiful Italian style wooden wine motif serving tray I won at a silent auction for a charity event. There was a mother of three that was paralyzed by her horse and we helped raise money towards her ongoing medical expenses.
It means very much to me and of course is absolutely beautiful in my kitchen AS WELL as functional.
My cake stand! I always have fresh fruit readily available for snacking and rather than putting them in a bowl, I put them on my cake stand. It’s a quick and easy way to add a pop of color to any kitchen and is a nice way of reminding us to eat healthy.
The Kitchen window curtains are extremely important because they frame the window that everyone looks at most often.
What’s needed in my kitchen is paint, lots of it. I’m thinking of what in art school was called Napels Yellow but that Pantone calls Yellow 0131 U.
The thing I need the most is a new stove- the one here is the original from when the mobile home was built more than 30 years ago and does not work well at all – but, needless to say, would love to win this sink!!!
A small assortment of serving trays and platters–both pretty and functional!
At this point, I would be happy for any changes in my kitchen. From the counters, to the floors, to the paint choice, the previous owners have not done us any favors. After six years of discussion, we are finally taking the plunge and updating. I am going for clean lines and light colors to make it look larger than it is.
I love glass jars! It keeps my food fresh and adds some interest and color to my countertops
I have some pictures I took while in London at Harrod’s. They have the most amazing food hall and I took close up pics of exotic fruits, meats, etc and framed them. They are colorful and interesting and I love that they reflect my love of food!
I found a print that was glued to a piece of wood at our local Salvation Army several years ago. It’s very calming and serene – I think it will be in my kitchen wherever we move (we’ve moved three times since then!).
The large fish tank next to the dining room table and picture of family above it!
I would say my storage. It keeps everything neat and organized and allows all the little decorating items to shine through. I also love apothecary jars! Because they go with any decor and you can fill them with anything and add color and texture to the kitchen that is easy to switch out.
My number one kitchen decorating essential is a photograph of my great grandmother herding angus cattle on their farm back in the 1930′s. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the chance to meet her, but displaying that photo of her is a way to showcase my family in my kitchen, the heart of our home.
Kitchen decorating essentials: pics of my family, coloring sheets/drawings, our schedule on the refrigerator.
Figuring out your home’s and your kitchen’s style is esssential to having a kitchen that flows with the rest of the house. Our kitchen needs to be transformed from the 1970s back to the 1920s, with modern upgrades, of course!
My turquoise blue paint! I have a very functional kitchen (so no wall space) and love the color it provides!
My kitchen is decorated with all the things that I use on a daily basis – the pots and pans hanging, the tools in jars or hanging, the products I use in containers on open pantry shelves. My spiritual kitchen place, though, is the two wood-framed windows over the sink – filled with colored bottles and glass vessels, plants, jars of vacation and travel mementos, acorns, pine cones, rocks, feathers found or gifted by children and grandchildren. These windowsills, sashes and extra little shelves pretty much contain a history from the time we moved into this house almost 20 years ago.
