We are thrilled to announce that our cookbook Around the Southern Table: Coming Home to Comforting Meals and Treasured Memories has been chosen as one of four finalists for the Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance (SIBA) Book Award for cooking!

Written by Contributing Editor Rebecca Lang, this book is a new classic. With 150 authentic yet innovative recipes interspersed with personal essays by Southern celebrities, it couldn’t help but attract attention. “Around the Southern Table reflects the abiding connection Southerners have with their tables, comforting foods, and their recollections of family,” Rebecca says. “The pages bridge a gap between the modern, busy lives we all live and the only place where time seems to stand still—the table.”

A cooking instructor, food writer, and lifelong Southerner, Rebecca certainly knows her way around a biscuit (she offers seven different versions in this book). “I cook Southern food because it’s who I am, what I know, and how I want to feed my family,” she says. “It’s a connection I have to my grandmothers and my time growing up.” The enticing recipes in this collection will fill your kitchen with all kinds of deliciousness and have your friends and relations vying for a spot at your dinner table. “It’s at our tables that Southerners pray, strengthen our families, and experience the best food of our lives,” Rebecca says. “I wanted this relationship to be highlighted on each page.”

Stay tuned for the results. The indie booksellers will announce the winner on July 4—or as they call it, “Independents Day.”
