Between working a full-time job as a public relations strategist and curating her own blog, Southern Curls and Pearls, Caitlin Covington is always on the go. The girl has a knack for translating the latest trends into that oh-so-sweet style Southern ladies are known for pulling off so well (see printed pants and bow-tie blouse above).
Here Caitlin dishes on her favorite fall trends and what makes her town’s fashion scene unique.
Girl behind the blog: Caitlin Covington
Hometown: Charlotte, North Carolina
Lives in: Greenville, South Carolina
Her signature look: “Classic and timeless with a few trendy pieces thrown in. I love pairing staple items with fun, unexpected accessories, like adding leopard-print heels to a little black dress.”
Southern style: “Southern women are comfortable with themselves and aren’t afraid to take risks with fashion.”
Favorite fall trend: “Camo; it’s the new leopard-print. Treat it like a neutral and you can do no wrong.” (P.s. we love camo too!)
Must-have shoe: “I just bought the “Kiernan” Tory Burch riding boots. They will complete so many of my fall and winter outfits.”
Local style: “Greenville has a very distinct style. The women here dress tastefully and there is a general appreciation for nice clothes. It’s very Southern too—bright colors, modest cuts, and classic jewelry.”
A Southern woman never leaves the house without: “Mascara and sparkly jewels—two things that make everything better. Even if you’re wearing a T-shirt and no other makeup, you’ll look put together with pretty lashes and a statement necklace.”
Retail therapy: “The boutiques in Downtown Greenville are just adorable. My favorite is Traveling Chic Boutique, followed by Monkees of Greenville. I also can’t get enough of Vestique—their prices are fantastic and I can’t walk out of there without buying something.”
