Thanksgiving of 2005 my brother was coming to have dinner for me and wanted me to make mama’s pecan pie; Yep the recipe came from Southern Living; I did and when he left me that day he told me how wonderful it was and if he died that die he would die happy because of the pecan pie. Well the following Monday my brother was in a vehicle accident and yes ultimately he died from injuries he received in the accident. I don’t ever fix pecan pie now that I don’t think about what he said about dying happy. Thanks Southern Living for all you do for us southern girls, ladies, and even yes guys.

I love the memory of my now deceased brother. He lived in Miami and came to South Carolina to visit all of us. He always requested that my sisiter make her special pineapple cake for him. He asked that she make it on the day he was leaving to return to Miami. He said he wanted to have a little of home with him longer, but I think he just didn’t want to share!
