Today marks the first official day of summer–though, judging from the past few weeks, the sun didn’t get the memo. It’s time to eat snoballs and don bathing suits. The only question that remains is where to do these things.

We want to hear from you, faithful readers. What is your favorite Southern beach? We’ve listed a few below, but if your beach isn’t included in the poll, let us know in the comments.

Gorgeous, beautiful, laid back, charming Dauphin Island, Alabama- No stoplights, no putt putt, no tacky souvenier shops or fast food joints, just the coast as it used to be- sun, sand, sea, historic sights, good fresh seafood, and the chance to be lazy , forget your watch, and the chance to prop your feet up at the end of the day and with a cool drink in hand, enjoy the glorious 360 degree sunsets on the Sunset Capital of Alabama, Dauphin Island- AHHHHH ISLAND TIME !!!

Gulf Shores, AL, more precise would be Fort Morgan area. Pristine beaches that in October make one feel as though they are the only person within miles. Abundant wildlife; osprey catching fish for her baby in the Bon Secour National Nature preserve, stingrays, rabbits, flounder, dolphins, birds, birds, birds. My heaven on earth.

Perdido Beach, Perdido Key, Florida. Beautiful, pristine, peaceful beaches. Destin is beautiful, but way too crowded.

Most beautiful sand, friendliest people, Great Food! I’ve been to beautiful beaches all over this world…Orange beach is hard to beat when you look at the big picture!

Execellent hotels, cabins, food, friendly people, lots to do, excellent fishing and most of all beautiful beaches! Unlike places like Panama City, Destin, and Pensacola, fl. Beaches are not over crowded and for the most part, peace and tranquility. Police force does an excellent job of controlling unruly visitors. It is Al. Biggest kept secret— let’s keep it that way!

Perdido Key is my favorite – it is right next to Orange Beach and perhaps quieter
