This Saturday, MSU’s Bully XX, Champ, will be taking the field for the last time at Davis Wade Stadium and Passing the Harness to his offspring, Jak, (named for the legendary Voice of MSU sports, Jack Cristil). Champ and Jak live with MSU Mascot Handler and MSCVM Animal Health Technician, Lisa Pritchard – affectionately known as “Bully’s Mom,” along with her French Bulldog, Pixie. Jak’s grandfather, TaTonka, was the first Bully to be purchased and owned by Mississippi State. All previous mascots were owned by MSU alums and loaned out only for the football games played at home. Today, Bully has a much busier schedule. He attends all MSU Football games, as well as Baseball, Softball, and Men & Women’s Basketball games played at home. In his spare time, he visits area elementary schools and spends time with residents in local Assisted Living and Nursing Homes. Bully is one busy puppy – could be why he’s sacked out with his roomies below! After the Harness is Passed this Saturday, Champ – at age 10 – will go into full retirement and 6 month old Jak will begin his reign as Bully XXI.
