The 147th annual Belmont Stakes takes place tomorrow, Saturday, June 6. Watch the winner of this year’s Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, “American Pharoah,” storm the 1 ½ mile track in hopes to once again beat his competitors and capture the illustrious Triple Crown title. The last horse to win all three major races was “Affirmed” in the summer of 1978. “California Chrome” lost his chance to win the title last year, so now all eyes are on “American Pharoah” to make history and become the 12th Triple Crown winner.
Last year, over 120,000 people flocked to Belmont Park to watch the races—that’s more people than can even fit into the Talladega Superspeedway. The Belmont Stakes has gained the nickname, the “Test of the Champion,” and thousands of spectators will once again be in attendance in hopes of catching a once-in-a-lifetime victory.
Coverage of the Belmont Stakes will begin Saturday, June 6 at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBC. “American Pharoah” will race for the Triple Crown at 6:50 p.m. ET. Tune in and place your bets accordingly—it’s sure to be a nail-biter.
