B's Cracklin' Bar-B-Q After Wednesday Night's Fire

B’s Cracklin’ Bar-B-Q on Thursday Morning

Yesterday we got the terrible news that B’s Cracklin’ Barbecue in Savannah, Georgia, which had just made Southern Living’s List of Top 50 BBQ Joints in the South, has been destroyed by fire. (And, no, the barbecue pits aren’t to blame: investigators have said preliminarily that the fire started around a soft drink machine.)

But already the Coffee Bluff neighborhood and the barbecue community at large are rallying to support owners Bryan and Nikki Furman. Supporters are organizing a barbecue fundraiser for this weekend, and Southern Soul BBQ of St. Simons has loaned the Furmans a mobile smoker to cook on.

They’ll be selling barbecue for lunch and dinner tomorrow, starting at 11:00 am in the park next to the restaurant at 57 Coffee Bluff Villa Road. If you’re in the area, stop by for some of the best barbecue in the South and help out a good cause while you’re at it.
