You may have noticed a pink flamingo on p.23 of the July issue of SL, with decor ideas for outdoor parties. It was created by our breathtakingly chic editor Elly Poston, and when she says something is fabulous, I tend to listen.
The sculptor who invented the original pink flamingo died on Monday. No, he was not a Southerner, but we Southerners know how to appreciate a post-modern prep design, even if it does originate from outside Boston. According to his obit in the New York Times, he created his sculptures by studying photos from National Geographic. And he stuck 57 of them in his own lawn.
