We would like a home that says “welcome” whether you enter at the front door, back door or through a garage! A plus for us would be a large kitchen with a pantry, next to a great room for entertaining that opened to a cover porch. This outdoor space would need a tv and seating to share with family and friends for college football “game days” . Four bedrooms are also on that list, eventhough are children are grown and moving out on their own, we still want to have plenty of space for them to come and visit. All of this would be built in North Mississippi on a couple of acres with a pond for some afternoon fishing!

I would love a wide open, spacious floor plan with a pretty kitchen. Pretty kitchens are always essential. 🙂 A couple of other features that would make it perfect would be big windows that let in a lot of natural light, a big open porch on the front of the home, and a large, cozy screened in porch on the back of the home. Everything else could be as standard as they need to be, but porches and kitchens are important factors for me. 🙂 Thank you for the chance to win.

This series of giveaways have been apropos for my family as we are beginning to do a total home remodel. For a year I have been pinning ideas and most have come from your sites. Our home redo is my parents home that my daddy built in the early sixties. It is a small bungalow split ranch on five acres with a large lake in the back. Sadly, I must gut most of the house. Therefore,I have pinned several of your house plans already. I am sentimental as no one in our family wanted our family home therefore I am buying my sisters half. Because our home holds so many great memories for me. I grew up in this house and I was married out by the lake. My dream is to have a two or three bedrooms with two and a half baths cottage low country home when finished. It will e a combination of three of your plans. The new Charlotte home, The Deer Run, and the Low Country plan. That is unless, I win this contest then I will pick one. I will have make he front porch wider and extend the length. I am putting back the shutters that were on the house decades ago. The inside will have a vaulted ceiling an a open living area including the kitchen. Lots of windows to let in the bright Florida sun and to take advantage of the lake views. The kitchen will be bigger as it is to small, the one room that my mom was in a lot and complained about. (Smiles) The staircase needs reworked. I want lots of charm so using bead board and wainscoting. Open and beamed ceiling…my style runs a bit eclectic. Beachy, vintage tropical Florida with rustic and French touches, even some shabby elements. I have many collections that I have collected over the years and from my mom too. The home will be bright and bold colors with details but foundation items white, pale blues and greens. The back will have French doors leading down to a large patio with the lake beyond. We do a lot of entertaining so I need the back patio to hold a crowd for my garden parties. Landscaping front will be simpler and classic with palms, but, the back is where all my orchids, and exotics live. Plus a vegetable, fruit, and cutting flower gardens. I will need a garden shed and a chicken coop too. We plan to have a small farm on the acreage with goats. Mostly I just want to keep our family home and make it better. In doing so to honor my parents for their fifty four years of love and marriage….to continue the story and memories they and my grand parents started there for me.

I love all the homes in Southern Living and have lived in Texas and Louisiana, so my dream home is inspired by these places. I love traditional elements rustic farmhouse elements. A front porch with a sitting area, a balcony with sitting areas, plantation shutters throughout, cozy sitting nooks, spacious open kitchen with beams on ceiling, and details like a barn track door in the home – these are all things I imagine when I think about building my dream home, which I hope we can do sooner rather than later! I would like a modern and functional version of this that would work in the wonderful city of Houston where I live.

The SL Deer Run House plan is my dream home and here is why: The house that my parents lived in while my mom was pregnant with me still sits on my dad’s property in Alabama and has gotten run down but still has someone living in it. It looks almost exactly like Deer Run on the outside but the plan for Deer run offers so much more opportunity to fix things up like an additional bathroom where I can put a reconditioned clawfoot tub, a fireplace, and an extra bedroom and porch. I actually showed it to my dad on my last trip home to try and convince him to fix it up so I can stay there when I come visit with my kids. A nice free set of plans would just about do the trick on making my home place dream come true so my kids can have a home base to run through the woods and swim in the creek during the summer.

After reading the above entries, I know mine will not be a winner but still would like to contribute. 🙂 I would love to have a large spacious kitchen, a living room with a fireplace, lots of porch space and a screened in porch to keep the mosquitos at bay. Maybe from that vantage point, scenery that would have a fenced in pasture with cows and sheep for the grandchildren to see. Thank you for letting me share.
