There are few things us Southerners love more than tailgating. Each Wednesday through collegiate football season, we’ll be giving away all the essentials to help you take your tailgate experience to a whole new level. Check back each week and enter for a chance to win!

We all have those friends who are ultimate tailgaters. They stand apart with their head-to-toe fan gear, ponchos in the rainy season, and a cocktail in hand. We applaud your drive, and, this week, we reward you with ‘hers and his’ gifts.

Have you ever wished for a cute bag that doubles as a sneaky wine carrier? Meet the Tailgate Swankey. This stylish It’s So Swankey Beverage Tote has an insulated compartment that keeps three liters – yes, three liters – of your favorite booze cold throughout your tailgating party. When you’re ready, lift up the side to reveal a handy dispenser to easily pour drinks. Choose your team’s colors and even have it custom monogrammed so no one steals your Prosecco.

I know a few men who take great pride in their scorekeeping ability. Armed with a pen and paper (because pencil smudges too easily), they write down the final tally of each SEC game and who’s in the running to play Alabama in the Championship. For you, dear friends, RevTracker, Inc. is giving away a College Football Tracker SEC Bundle. This nifty invention uses collectible football helmets to track the team rankings in each division, and even allows you to flip over the ‘Conference Champions’ sign to display ‘National Champions’ if your team takes the title. Hang on the wall, or display in the man cave as a fun, interactive way to keep up with the season.

What football traditions run in your family? Comment below for a chance to win. Official rules here.

My brother and I both have birthdays immediately after the New Year (Jan. 4 & 11). Thus it is our family tradition to celebrate our birthdays along with whatever bowl game our team is playing in that year! From the time we were in elementary school until now in our late-20s, we get together with our whole family and have a big celebration for our “birthdays”. We are pretty sure it started because our parents wanted to have family over to watch the game but couldn’t do that and our birthdays all in one week, but now we love it! We get a cake or a cookie cake with our team and the other team’s helmets or logos, and cheer on our team celebrating another year that we have made it to a bowl game and our special days!

My husband and I met in school way back in 1975 and have this year retired to that same old town where we fell in love with each other and the UF Gators! Our daughter Carolyn followed our footsteps and also graduated from there. So now family traditions continue whenever we get together to watch football and remember all the great times we’ve had with our families and our tailgating buddies! Better times and memories will surely come along with the next generation! Go Gators!

Our family always makes sure we have boiled peanuts and some kind of chicken to eat at our Clemson tailgates. We watch the band march down the Avenue of Champions before we go into the stadium to watch our Tigers run down the hill.

My parents, aunts and uncles are 4th generation University of Nebraska Alumni and my cousins, siblings and I are proud 5th generation Husker Alumni. Although we do not all live in Nebraska, we make a point to get together for games as often as possible! We all wear red and eat Runzas! Football is a fun excuse that readily brings my family together and a tradition that I hope will continue for many more generations! Go big red!

Our family tradition is to watch the Auburn- Alabama game on TV when we are all together for Thanksgiving. The tradition that has lasted the ages at our house is we turn down the volume on the TV and turn up the radio volume so we can hear Rod Bramblett call the game. We have been keeping this tradition going since the days of Jim Fyffe. Even with all the modern amenities of Tivo and other “features” we can’t watch Auburn football any other way!

Our family tailgating traditions include USC/UCLA games. Having manufactured cocktails to fit the event, and the “grillers” managing the stat’s-we share food, fun and a winning attitude at every game.

My family’s favorite football tradition is watching the bowl games on a ski trip while writing Christmas thank you notes and drinking hot chocolate out of our logo team mugs! We will also make regional food based on the teams that are playing (gumbo for LSU, corn-on-the-cob for Nebraska, buffalo burgers for Colorado, etc…)

My daughter and I recently attended an outside concert with our Swankey’s in tow. Wearing it over our shoulders, security checked our Swankey without ever detecting the lower contents. Greatest concept ever! We enjoyed the show with our drinks in hand! ♡
