If you’re anything like us, you’re already well-versed in dry shampoo. But what about its sister styling product, dry conditioner? If you’ve never heard of it, you’re not alone: Though it’s popped up here and there before, only in the past few months have we noticed a true boom in the dry conditioner department.

The timing is no coincidence, says Elizabeth Maloy, stylist at New York City’s Paul Labrecque Salon and Spa. “Dry conditioner is super moisturizing, making it the perfect solution to winter hair problems like static, which occurs when dry hair makes contact with fabric hats and scarves.” It’s the nourishing oils in the formula that make it happen, while also working to detangle and tame frizz on-the-spot.

As for application, unlike dry shampoo, this stuff is meant to be applied along your lengths and ends. “Spray it from at least six inches away, allowing for a fine, even application to blanket the hair,” says Maloy. “Use a paddle brush to evenly distribute the product and finish the look.”
