Fall Flavor for your Burger? Recipe for ART Burger Sushi’s Walnut Chutney

According to a ranking by Spoon University, the ART Burger at Myrtle Beach’s ART Burger Sushi Bar is the best burger in the state of South Carolina. At the risk of sounding a little biased, I’d have to agree.

The restaurant’s namesake – like all its dishes – is artfully prepared. It’s a ground beef patty stacked high with thick-sliced bacon, marinated red onions and blue cheese crumbles on a memorably branded ART bun. And yet the star is perhaps the most unexpected part of the dish: warm walnut chutney.

ART Burger Sushi Bar’s Walnut Chutney

1 lb walnuts

2-3 garlic cloves

1 T apple cider vinegar

¼ Granny Smith apple, chopped

¼ large yellow onion, chopped

1 t ginger powder

1 ½ t ground cinnamon

¼ t salt

½ lb brown sugar

4 T butter

 

Add walnuts to food processor and pulse to a medium-fine texture. Set aside.

Add garlic, apple cider vinegar, apple, onion, ginger, cinnamon and salt to food processor and pulse fine. Combine the apple/onion mixture with the butter and brown sugar in a pot on the stove. Bring to boil over medium heat until brown sugar dissolves.

Remove from heat and add walnuts. Serve warm or place in a covered dish to refrigerate.
