Our Southern pooches need stylish accessories, too, so it’s no wonder that we fell in love with these adorable preppy dog collars from Alabama-based Proper Fetch. The handmade pieces are crafted with nylon, ribbon, and a silver buckle – and even have a bottle opener attached in case your pup needs to crack a cold one (or, if you’ve got him trained to bring you one from the fridge!). You’ll never wonder where your missing bottle opener went again. Collars come in small, medium, and large so they’ll fit your beloved pet perfectly. Pick from the Anchor Collar (shown above), the Aqua Collar, the Chick Magnet Collar, or the Bow Tie Collar.

Tell us about your pup, and why he/she would love to have a new collar. Comment below for a chance to win. Official rules here.

I just recently received my very first puppy as a surprise birthday present! My sweet boyfriend knew that I had always wanted a dog growing up but my dad had bad allergies so we could never have any pets😦 I was SO surprised when my boyfriend asked me to meet him at a local restaurant for lunch and he was sitting at a table outside with my new German Shepherd/Lab mixed puppy!! I named him Teddy and he’s mostly a caramel brown color all over with some white on his face and paws. He’s so loving and adorable!! A chick magnet collar would be perfect for Teddy because every time we take him anywhere all the other dogs and people always want to come over and play with him…HaHa

I got my sweet little southern lady, Coco, a chihuahua, in Hixson, Tennessee. We lived in the country where she was able run free and wild. She chased squirrels, turkeys and even deer. She has never worn a lease or collar her first 5 years. Although she does sport many stylish outfits. We just recently moved to the big city of Pittsburgh. Poor Coco has to wear a lease and collar now. I have tried many different styles for her. I think she needs a proper southern collar to make her fell more confident in her new surroundings.

My dog, Ginger, is a mini-goldendoodle. She lives for the beach. She loves to do everything at the beach including paddleboarding, jet skiing, digging holes in the sand, boating, and swimming. She likes to look fashionable while at the beach too!

Rascal would love a new collar. He is a wild child that cannot go out without a leash for fear he will get on a snake or run away. He could sure use a nice new collar to sport to hook his leash to. Thanks.

My rescue #bambamtheshibainu is the Best Dog Ever, which is what I tell him every day. His gotcha day was Black Friday 2015 and he was the best early Christmas present to me ever. He’s sweet, kind, friendly but very protective of me and loves most folks. He’s entertaining and loves the college students that pass by the house. He’ll stop in front of folks he likes and basically look at them and say “Aren’t I cute? Don’t you want to pet and love on me?” He’s a great traveller and I’m so glad i could give him a forever home. We’d lost 3 dogs in 1 year and I was so depressed until I got him. He’s an antidote for depression and a magnet for friendships and meeting new people. He’d look great in a new collar just for him vs. his manly man Harley Davidson collar bought by his Dad. I’d like that but the fiancee thinks all our dogs past/current/future should be Harley dogs…….what can I say? Help BamBam break the mold with a pretty new collar. Thanks.

My husband and I adopted Louie about 4 months ago from the Humane Society here in College Station, Texas! We immediately fell in love with him and his personality and wanted nothing more than to give him the best life! We are unsure as to what Louie’s history is, but we know it wasn’t the best. He has a scar on his head between his eyes and we believe he fractured one of his back legs…so sad. Almost a month ago we took him into the vet for a check up and the and doctor noticed the bump where the fracture was had grown. He told us that there was a chance the bump could indicate cancer so he was going to need to do a bone biospsy. Of course, my husband and I were just crushed. We joined together and prayed for our sweet baby that it wasn’t cancer and it was just a bone infection. Two days later we took Louie to get the procedure done (he did great) and we waited on the results that had to be sent off for a cytologist to view. We waited, and waited, and waited, and FINALLY we got the call that Louie Bear did NOT HAVE CANCER!!! He had a bone infection that was going to be treated with antibiotics!! My husband and I were just so happy we were not going to have to say goodbye to our sweet boy!! Louie is one happy pup and is back to his 8 month old puppy self! Louie deserves to get a new collar because he is going to live a long and happy life, with no cancer!!!

Dr. Floyd T. Barker, PhD found me in a gas station parking lot. It didn’t take him long to take over my heart, my bed, and to enjoy a good snuggle in my clean laundry. He enjoys the finer things in life and that would include a hand made Proper Fetch dog collar. (Plus, he keeps trying to me “fetch” happen and it’s just not happening. But, that’s just because he loves Mean Girls.)

We just had our first child in August. We weren’t sure how Ruby, our 9-year old chocolate lab, would do with the baby, but she has been awesome. Ruby definitely deserves a new collar.

We just moved to Georgia from Indiana so having a Proper Fetch collar would help a great deal in helping either one of my boys become a southern gentleman.

My buddy Barley is a rescue from Chattanooga! He came to me 6 years ago. From the moment he walked into the house he was home. He trotted through the rooms found a dog bed and made it his. Unbeknownst to me at the time, one year later I was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer. Barley was my partner, he would snooze along side me when I did and also snooze when I just needed to relax. He has been by my side me thru a second treatment also. He deserves a Proper Fetch collar.

My boy Keel was named by his dad who loved to sail. He’s been through a lot in his 12 short years. She his dad passed away at 18 months, Keel came to live with me. I love him more than I can say. He’s had his gallbladder removed and recently had two seizures. Through it all he’s a happy lovable boy. He loves children and we sometimes go to libraries so children can read to him and a few times a year he comes to school with me and children read to him. He’s the perfect ambassador for his breed (English Springer Spaniel) and I’ve become active in rescue because of him.

Hi Julie! We, my husband and I enjoy the company of two small furry friends. The first, Miles a Maltipom is 10 pounds of gentleman testosterone. He loves his job as sous chef (when the big guy, (who is Miles’ idol) is grilling up a big juicy steak), he mimics the love of his life when they go out on their ‘patrols’; chest out and on the alert for mayhem, and he plays well with others, including the cat. Our other companion is a small teacup chihuahua who was rescued. She’s a little old lady who has recently learned the joys of romping in the grass, frolicking in her own dog bed and devouring treats for good behavior. She revels in covering her humans in ‘oh, thank you, thank you’ kisses and loves each day…well, except the ones which include a visit to the vet. They both proudly sport collars with tags and, as such is the case, they are pleading for their cousin Mouse, a rescued ACD mix, to be the recipient of this wonderfully crafted collar. This lovely dog is aptly named and after several years of patient efforts by her human is slowly coming out of her fearful self and beginning to enjoy the life of a companion animal. We thank you for this generous offer and wish you much luck and success! Arf! Arf!

My buddy Buster was a rescue. Who rescued who is not exactly clear, but we have been together going on 9 years. He is a shepherd and lab mix who takes pride in looking dapper. He would love to show off a new Chick Magnet collar to all of his lady friends at the dog park.

Beau’s a 13 year old “Jackahuahua” who was found running wild in the greater Savannah, GA area. He has an attitude, sheds massively & growls at babies. Maybe a preppie collar would give him a little class.🙂

Our dog snoopy was born in Alabama in the back of a pick up truck and has no more pedigree than a feed sack. Although he has been rescued and re-homed to our savage North Georgia mountains; he stills longs for an unrealized gentry filled with the scent of magnolia breezes, decent pinstripe, and an SEC Championship pigskin to gnaw on. Owning such a tasteful and classy collar crafted in his homeland would work wonders to elevate his sense of canine respectability.

We were not planning on getting a dog, but when we stumbled upon an abandoned, white, matted 4-lb furball last July we couldn’t say no. Thus, now we are the proud owners of a maltese named Bennie. Bennie is short for Beignet because he is sweet, white and fluffy like the New Orleans style of doughnut lightly dusted with powdered sugar and will definitely a part of our family “fur-ever!” He fits in my purse and we go everywhere together, Bennie especially loves going to restaurants with outdoor patios and sneaking tastes of “bark-B-Q and “pup-arroni” pizza! As a southern dog, he also truly loves cheesy grits. I work at a rehabilitation hospital and am planning to get him a certified therapy dog so he can accompany me to work each day, I’ve brought him to work and the patients and staff love him. Because of his sweet temperament and cute face, we’ve had other friends rescue abandoned dogs after meeting him. “Saving one dog may not change the world, but surely for that one dog the world will change forever!
