Besides taste, there’s no better recall of place and time for me like a good smell.
Just last Saturday, I stepped outside to encounter a mix of smells including fresh cut grass, burning leaves, and chicken wings on my neighbors smoker. It was my immediate cue that the fall season is finally in full swing down South. It also meant that I didn’t have to apologize for opening up a cold beer at 10 a.m.
For me, creating delicious recipes is synonymous with crafting a signature scent – both must be unique, balanced, and satisfying. Otherwise, why take notice?
This fall, I’m digging on the new fragrance, MOONSHINE reserve – the Gentleman’s Jack of the original MOONSHINE, a gentleman’s cologne by EastWest Bottlers. The fragrance has a mix of notes, including black pepper, gin, leather, tobacco, and patchouli. It’s a woodsy aroma that’s both familiar and new – a timeless classic.
Speaking of time and nostalgia, there’s also a new throwback fragrance for G.I. Joe. A favorite toy of my childhood is now alive and well in scent form – with notes of smoky flint, hickory, blood orange, and red clay. The packaging is as good as the fragrance – a canteen style bottle is wrapped in a military grade canvas. And for the gents that want to sport even more retro style, the package also includes a dog tag with a title that we can all hope to aspire to – “A Real American Hero”.
Cheers to that.
